Ceremony by the Bay When the mother came to see me to plan the wedding she asked me to design it very elegant but understated, since it was her daughter’s second marriage (I also did the first). The problem was the daughter wanted to use red and gold because her fiancé was from India. The wedding was going to take place, at sunset, in their Bayfront Estate with old world architecture and décor. I thought that red roses and antique gold would look magnificent. I presented my idea and they were very pleased. I selected the garden on the side of the house facing the bay for the ceremony. There was a walk way I would use as an aisle covered with a red carpet and the rest of the lawn was to be floored and carpeted for the chairs where the guests would sit during the ceremony. I recommended to use an Oriental carpet from the house and place it, as an anchor, where the couple would take their bows. A pair of stone urns filled with red roses flanked the Bride and Groom and nosegay bouquets of red roses and gold ribbon were tied to the chairs in the aisle. The ceremony site turned out spectacular with the view of the bay as a backdrop and the sunset for lighting. The entrance gate to the Estate was also decorated with red roses and gold ribbons to make it festive for the guests’ arrival. After the ceremony the guests proceeded to the second floor of the house for cocktails. The house inside was covered with red roses, every urn and every vase. Later the guests stepped down to the lower terrace for dinner. Again, what a view! Not much was needed to decorate the Terrace except the dinner tables which were covered in antique gold silk tablecloths, surrounded with gold chivarri chairs. The centerpiece was a classic, a pillar candle covered by a hurricane glass and surrounded by a massive cluster of red roses. Finally to compliment the table setting the family china, crystal and silverware were used.< Go Back |
